Week 5 - Bye Week

OK, so into week 5 which started with a beer-and-brats disappointing Redskins loss, for which we entertained upwards of 20 people, so I was home and not able to go to the gym. Did I capitalize on any opportunity to make that up during the day? Not at all. Tuesday was a doo-doo feeling day, so I did not go to the gym that night either. Yesterday was a 'mental health' day which turned into 'the cold is revisiting' day. So I figured 'why bother going tonight with just 2 nights left in the week?' So tomorrow night, keeping in consistency, I will probably not go to the gym either. At the beginning of the week, I weighed 199 pounds. (I wonder if the 10 pounds of candy I ate over the weekend had anything to do with that...) I am back to 194 after some water and getting back to my suppliment routine so that's good. Not looking forward to feeling what I'm going to feel when I first get back on the treadmill next week. Not nearly as worried about what the muscles are going to do when I hit the weights again. The question is whether or not I'm going to tack this missed week onto the end of the phase. I probably ought to. I kind of like the circuit training and prefer it to the heavy lifting, although both are good. Of course, there is that little matter of 2 weeks of flexibility training where I get to bring back the 35 minute cardio sessions. Got a new set of Adidas Microbounce running shoes with ZERO miles on them, so we'll see where those leave me in the way of shin splints. I'm optomistic in that regard. I swear, it's only been a week and yet I feel like I've been out of the game for much longer. I'm thinking that I need the 35 minute cardio sessions. I really think that with the introduction on the Acai berry juice and green tea extract that there will be some good benefit to the elongated cardio training. Let us see where the next week leaves us, I will hand down my verdict on what is to become of this bye week at the end of next week.
